With the mission of salvaging limbs and returning patients to their daily lives, Paradigm Medical Management, a company dedicated to the development, implementation, and management of hospital outpatient wound care, amputation prevention and hyperbaric medicine centers, created the Amputation Prevention Centers of America (APCA).
The program utilizes an innovative team-based approach that pairs foot and ankle surgeons with vascular surgeons - with significant results in reducing major amputations for the growing number of people in the country who suffer from the complications of diabetes and/or peripheral arterial disease.
Community-based wound care centers that offer comprehensive care are increasingly interested in optimizing outcomes and preventing limb loss. However, these clinics oftentimes are not equipped or staffed with the clinical experts to treat the medically complex patients who present the Amputation Prevention Center (APC) with often life- and limb-threatening conditions in need of immediate surgical and/or medical attention.
This is where Paradigm Medical Management steps in. Placing an Amputation Prevention Center in a hospital-based setting can achieve excellent clinical outcomes of reduced healing times, decreased amputation rates, savings in overall treatment cost and significant revenue from multiple surgical procedures and inpatient hospital admissions.
